Measuring clamps
Clamp-on meters measure current, voltage and sometimes power without interrupting the circuit. Using a Hall-effect sensor or a current transformer, they detect the magnetic field generated by the conductor and convert it into a proportional electrical signal. In maintenance, they facilitate rapid checking of circuits, circuit-breakers and distribution systems. In production, they enable functional checks and the detection of load anomalies. Modern clamps also measure AC/DC voltage, frequency, power factor and total harmonic distortion (THD). Accuracy is up to ± (1 % + 2 digits), with measurement ranges from 1 mA to 3,000 A depending on the model. TRMS versions ensure reliable measurement even on distorted signals. Bluetooth and USB interfaces facilitate measurement transmission and automatic reporting. Insulated to CAT III or CAT IV, they meet IEC 61010 safety requirements.
It's a practical, accurate device for measuring current and diagnosing electrical installations in complete safety.

Practical questions about Measuring clamps
01
What are measuring pliers used for?A clamp meter is used to measure a current without opening the circuit. It uses a magnetic sensor to detect the field created by the passage of the current, making the measurement fast, safe and suitable for installations in operation.
02
What is the difference between an AC clamp and an AC/DC clamp?AC clamps only measure alternating currents via a current transformer. AC/DC clamps use a Hall-effect sensor to analyse DC currents as well. AC/DC models are essential for switch-mode power supplies, embedded systems or batteries.
03
What criteria should I look for when choosing the right pliers?Consideration should be given to current range, accuracy, safety class (CAT), bandwidth, jaw size and ability to measure distorted or pulsed signals. Compatibility with the measuring device (multimeter, oscilloscope, power meter) is also essential.
04
Is it possible to measure low currents with a clamp meter?Yes, but only with models designed for low currents. Standard clamps often lack sensitivity below a few amperes. Low-noise or wide-bandwidth clamps are preferred for precision measurements or fast signals.
05
Why is bandwidth important?Too low a bandwidth can smooth or distort signals. For switch-mode power supplies, controlled motors or fast electronic circuits, a wide-band clamp is needed to measure fast current variations and high-frequency components correctly.
