Multimeters
Multimeters measure the fundamental electrical quantities: voltage, current and resistance, with additional functions for continuity, frequency, capacitance or temperature. Their resolution varies from 4½ to 8½ digits depending on the accuracy required, with a typical uncertainty of ± (0.01 % + 2 digits). In R&D, they are used to characterise circuits, validate components and monitor power supply signals. In maintenance, they can be used to detect faults and quickly check connectors or electronic modules. In metrology, bench-top models ensure traceability of measurements to ISO 17025 thanks to long-term stability of less than 5 ppm/year.
