Cable and antenna analysers
Cable and antenna analysers measure the quality of RF links by quantifying insertion loss, reflection coefficient (S11) and standing wave ratio (SWR). They generally operate from 1 MHz to 6 GHz, with a dynamic range of over 100 dB and an impedance accuracy of ± 1 Ω. These instruments can be used to check antenna matching, coaxial cable continuity and connector conformity. In installation, they facilitate the alignment of transmission systems and the detection of faults such as breaks, mismatches or short circuits. In maintenance, they can be used to diagnose damage caused by humidity, mechanical wear or thermal stress. The distance-to-fault (DTF) functions can be used to precisely identify the position of an anomaly along the cable. USB, LAN or Wi-Fi interfaces enable rapid export of test reports. Robust and portable, these analysers can be used at radio transmission sites, radar stations, telecoms installations and industrial infrastructures.
An essential tool for guaranteeing the performance, reliability and integrity of RF links.

concrete questions about Cable and antenna analysers
01
What is a cable and aerial analyser used for?It measures losses, mismatches and reflection on an RF line. It can be used to locate degradation, breakage or poor termination, and to check the performance of an antenna or coaxial cable.
02
What's the difference with a vector network analyser?A full-featured VNA measures all S parameters with high laboratory accuracy. The cable and antenna analyser is simpler, dedicated to the field: it offers immediate display of SWR, loss return or TDR, with a robust interface.
03
Are these instruments reserved for telecoms? No. They are also found in RF maintenance services for industrial infrastructures, transport networks, defence, broadcasting and on-board systems requiring an antenna (vehicles, ships, drones).
04
Can an anomaly be detected on a buried cable or at altitude?Yes, by using distance-to-fault (DTF) measurement, which identifies the location of a loss or discontinuity. This facilitates diagnostics without dismantling the installation.
05
What criteria should you compare when choosing a model? The frequency range covered, VSWR or return loss sensitivity, the presence of a TDR or DTF mode, autonomy, shock resistance and data export for traceability are all differentiating features.
