LAN testers
LAN testers verify, certify and diagnose copper and fibre optic computer networks. They measure continuity, length, attenuation, crosstalk (NEXT/FEXT), return path (RL) and propagation delay on category 5e, 6, 6A, 7 and 8 links. During installation, they validate cabling compliance with ISO/IEC 11801, ANSI/TIA-568 and IEEE 802.3 standards, and during maintenance, they detect breaks, pair inversions, imbalances and shielding anomalies. The multifunction models also perform PoE, network throughput and LLDP port identification tests. In fibre environments, they measure optical power, insertion loss and polarity in accordance with ITU-T standards G.652 and G.657. Wi-Fi, USB and cloud interfaces enable automatic transfer and archiving of certification reports. Compact and self-contained, these testers are ideal for cabling sites, data centres and industrial Ethernet/IP networks.
An essential tool for guaranteeing the compliance, performance and reliability of LAN infrastructures.

concrete questions about LAN testers
01
What can a LAN tester diagnose? It checks the physical integrity of network links (copper or fibre), measures cable lengths, detects cuts, reversals or short circuits, tests PoE continuity and assesses performance up to speeds of 10 Gb/s depending on the model.
02
Who is this type of instrument for?Professionals who install, maintain or certify LAN infrastructures: cabling technicians, deployment managers, network service providers, integrators or in-house IT support.
03
What is the difference between a simple cable tester and a LAN certification tester? The simple tester performs basic diagnostics (continuity, reversed pairs), while a certification tester measures electrical parameters in accordance with ISO/IEC and TIA standards (NEXT, FEXT, RL...), which are essential for validating a professional installation.
04
Can it be used on an already active network?Yes, some models include service detection, real throughput measurement or VLAN identification functions, without interrupting traffic.
05
Which interfaces are generally covered?LAN testers support RJ45 connectors (Cat 5e to Cat 8), as well as fibre-optic interfaces (via SFP/SC/LC modules) for backbone or long-distance link testing.
